The Ludwig Forum für Internationale Kunst is a museum of modern art in Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located in a former industrial building that was once an umbrella factory (Schirmfabrik Brauer), designed in Bauhaus style and built in 1928. The museum contains exemplary major works of American pop art and photorealism. It also displays the development of European art from the early 1960s to the present day. Its permanent collection includes works by Nam June Paik, Duane Hanson, Joseph Beuys, Wolf Vostell, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein, and Jörg Immendorff, as well as a large collection of Cuban works.

Initiated in 1950 with a donation by Oetker and gradually expanded from 1954 with municipal acquisitions, the collection focuses on Expressionism, international sculpture, and contemporary art. The permanent collection features a wide array of 20th-century art, including paintings by Pablo Picasso and Max Beckmann, works by the Blaue Reiter group and movements centred on László Moholy-Nagy and Oskar Schlemmer, and more recent art from the 1970s and '80s. The museum stands in a sculpture garden featuring works by Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore, Richard Serra, Ólafur Elíasson and other modern sculptors.

Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany) is one of the most visited museums in Germany. Known as the Bundeskunsthalle for short, it is part of the so-called "Museum Mile" in Bonn. It holds exhibitions relating to art and cultural history from around the world. In 1946, when Josef Haubrich trans­ferred his art col­lec­tion to the Ci­ty of Cologne im­me­di­ate­ly af­ter World War II, it seemed to Cologne’s resi­dents like a dis­patch from a bet­ter world. Long be­lieved to be lost, paint­ings by Ger­man Ex­pres­sion­ists and other ex­po­nents of Clas­si­cal Mod­er­nism who had been per­se­cut­ed dur­ing the war and de­nounced as “de­gen­er­ate” sud­den­ly be­longed to the ci­ty’s resi­dents. That with it Haubrich would lay the corn­er­s­tone for the col­lec­tion of the Mu­se­um Lud­wig—and there­by for one the most im­por­tant mu­se­ums for mod­ern and con­tem­po­rary art in Eu­rope—still lay in the dis­tant fu­ture.

The Municipal Museum of Mönchengladbach was established in 1904, two years after the city’s Museum Association had been founded. A small collection focused on the city’s history moved into the rooms of a former elementary school. From then on, the collection expanded continuously. In 1922, the landmark bequest of Dr. Walter Kaesbach, a native of Mönchen-gladbach, brought the museum into possession of an outstanding collection of expressionist art and established its profile as a contemporary art museum.
