This Gallery is situated within the old Telegraph & Post Office building from which J McDouall Stuart sent his message in Dec 1862, to inform the SA authorities that he had successfully crossed Australia. A volunteer manned and managed gallery, the building and external maintenance is provided by the Regional Council of Goyder and is open Tuesday to Sunday.

Since 1966 when the first acquisitions were made by the former Department of Fine Arts, the Flinders University collection of art has grown to more than 8,000 works, making it one of the largest University art collections in Australia. Four major collection areas include contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art; European prints; Post-object and documentation art; and Australian political prints and posters. Smaller collections comprise colonial and 20th century Australian art; indigenous works from Papua New Guinea, North America and Africa; and Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints.

The Kapunda Gallery was established in 1989 by an enthusiastic group who worked tirelessly to transform the uppers story of the Thomson Building above the Library and Visitors Information Centre, into a gallery, meeting and workshop area. For some years the Gallery was a Section 199 Committee, but in 1999 as these committees were being phased out by Local government, it became an incorporated association: Kapunda Community Gallery Inc.

Naracoorte Regional Art Gallery is the oldest Regional Gallery in South Australia and is accommodated in a beautiful Georgian home once owned by the Pavy family. Port Pirie Regional Art Gallery is located in the Port Pirie Cultural Precinct, adjacent to the silos and wharf area in the city of Port Pirie. The Gallery conducts a diverse program of exhibitions annually, with an emphasis on regional South Australian artists. It hosts national touring exhibitions from major Australian cultural institutions and develops exhibitions of topical and community interest. Port Pirie Regional Art Gallery was first established in 1992, exhibiting in the old baggage room of the closed passenger railway station in Port Pirie. The redevelopment of the railway station into the Regional Tourism and Arts Centre in 1994 included a dedicated A class art gallery.
